Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the main Igbo socio-cultural organization, has congratulated Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on his election as the Peoples Democratic Party’s vice presidential candidate, calling him as a “detribalized patriot, purveyor of morality, and a poster personality.”
While expressing confidence that his candidacy will boost the PDP’s electoral prospects, Ohanaeze pointed out that Okowa has never been involved in a political battle in his entire political career.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo congratulates Okowa as vice-presidential candidate,” the Igbo apex organization said in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, on Friday.
Professor George Obiozor, who leads Ohanaeze Ndigbo internationally, is proud of Ogbonnia, according to Ogbonnia.
“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide heartily congratulates an Igbo prodigy; an astute administrator, astute politician, brilliant physician, creative visionary, prudent resource manager, detribalized patriot, purveyor of morals and a poster personality, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State as he secures the highly coveted Vice Presidential candidacy of the Peoples’ Democratic Party,” the statement read (PDP).
“The phenomenal trajectory of a University of Ibadan trained medical doctor from Secretary to Ika North East Local Government; Chairman, Ika North East Local Government; Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources; Commissioner for Water Resources Development; Commissioner for Health; Secretary to the Delta State Government; Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; ECOWAS Parliamentarian; Governed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo has been watched with keen interest and admiration by Ohanaeze Ndigbo” (PDP).
According to available documents, God bestowed a special grace on Okowa from the moment he was born. Grace is the sole explanation for the mystery surrounding a few extraordinary achievements in numerous areas of life that, conversely, pose huge challenges to many others. This may explain why Okowa ennobled the numerous offices he held with extraordinary talent, diligence, grace, and panache.
