A coalition of Civil Society Organisations under the aegis of the Coalition of Civil Societies for Equity, Justice and Good governance has demanded the resignation of the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan over alleged abuse of office.

The group threatened to shut down the activities at the Federal Government Secretariat if Yemi-Esan fails to resign in five days.

The groups also accused the Head of Service of employment fraud, alleging recruitment from the backdoor.

The co-convener of the group, Danesi Momoh, made the call in Abuja during a press briefing on the alleged rot in the office of the Head of Civil Service of the federation and the purported employment racketeering.

Momoh, during a peaceful match held at Unity Fountain specifically, alleged that the Head of Service has been giving “recruitments from the backdoor” despite the embargo on employment and have “attracted lots of lawsuits and enemies because of her recklessness.”

The group also said the circular, which placed an embargo on employment was adversely affecting the nation’s tertiary institutions which are currently suffering a dearth of qualified academic and non-academic manpower.

Danesi Momoh said, “It is with the solemn commitment of the Conference of Civil Societies for Equity, Justice and Good Governance to enthrone transparency and accountability in the public space that we address you again on the rot in going on in the office of the head of civil service of the federation.

“Apart from the official recruitment into the federal civil service, the Head of Service has been known to conduct recruitments from the backdoor for a long time even in the face of the so-called embargo on employment,” the group said.

Also the group alleged that the HoS blocked 17 federal directors from participating in the permanent secretary examination.

“If not, how can she explain the number of houses and properties to her name in the FCT and elsewhere? Where did she get the money from as a civil servant? How about the huge sums of money in her account? We have proof to back up these claims and we won’t hesitate to show the public how Mrs. Folashade has abused her office. This kind of posturing is opposed to the administration of President Buhari and must not be allowed to go on.

“The number of court cases against the Head of Service are mounting every day. Yet, she does not obey court orders and even simple civil service policy guidelines issued by Mr. President. She’s certainly a misfit and must not be allowed to continue as the Head of Service since her antics are causing more harm to the country.

“Dr. Yemi-Esan as Head of Service has contributed greatly to increase the rate of youth unemployment. She has hoarded and controlled the employment process in her favour to maximize the dirty money she makes from the deals.

The group further alleged that many institutions had lost accreditations because of manpower shortages.

It cited the case of the University of Abuja amongst others where students who graduated suffer unjustly for no faults of theirs.

However, efforts made to contact the Head of the Media Office of the HOS, Abdulganiyu Aminu proved abortive.
