The All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about its upcoming national convention billed for February 26.
INEC Spokesman, Festus Okoye made the revelation during a chat with Punch.
Okoye said the ruling party has not yet notified the commission of its intention to hold its convention.
Okoye, however, expressed hope that the APC will comply with the Electoral Act and inform INEC of its upcoming event.
“The commission has not been notified of any convention,” he said.
Meanwhile, the National Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday submitted its report to the leadership of the party at the APC Secretariat in Abuja.
The committee was inaugurated on October 12, 2021, to reconcile, harmonize and integrate members of the party in order to cement all cracks and seeming differences.
Speaking with reporters after submitting his committee’s interim report, a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, disclosed that more work needs to be done to reconcile aggrieved party faithful across the country.
He said the committee has requested for an additional week to explore avenues of achieving total reconciliation of aggrieved members, stressing that they are able to consider no fewer than 47 petitions filed by aggrieved party faithful from various parts of the country.
Adamu, however, said the caretaker committee of the party is at liberty to decide whether to adhere to the recommendation of his committee or not before the conduct of the national convention.
